Who is Bahama Stars for?

The program is designed for three age groups of children and young people:
  • Early primary school
  • Upper primary school
  • High school
We do not focus solely on learning acting skills. We see theatre as a tool for developing soft skills that will benefit participants regardless of the educational or professional path they choose in the future. During the classes, we primarily develop confidence, creativity, imagination, independence, cooperation and communication skills. Participants learn to speak up, present their own ideas, listen to others, respond to unexpected situations and build positive relationships within a group. An important part of the program is also working with breath, voice and speech, helping children and young people become more aware of their bodies and feel more confident and comfortable when speaking and performing in public.

Three Trimesters –
Three Perspectives on Acting

Changing instructors allows participants to experience different approaches to theatre and explore a variety of methods and theatrical languages. Each trimester is a separate adventure, while all three parts of the program come together to create a broader theatrical experience.

The program consists of three trimesters led by different instructors, giving participants the opportunity to discover diverse working methods and perspectives on theatre.

Depending on the age group, the program includes:

  • Puppetry techniques – working with objects and form, animation, and creating characters and stories.
  • Improvisation – developing spontaneity, creativity and the ability to respond to a partner, as well as creating scenes and stories without a pre-written script.
  • Breath and voice work – body awareness, healthy breathing, voice projection, articulation and expression. At a stage of intensive physical and emotional development, this is a particularly important and valuable part of the program. Under the guidance of specialists, participants learn healthy habits related to speaking and breathing, helping to prevent unhealthy vocal patterns and tension that may contribute to speech difficulties and voice disorders or strain. This enables participants to use their voices consciously and safely – one of the most important tools of communication.
  • Working with the camera – becoming comfortable in front of the camera and creating characters and scenes for film. All participants will also be added to the Bahama Films talent database, giving them an opportunity to put their skills to the test on a professional film set.

Our goal is for participants to leave the program with more than just theatrical experience. Above all, we want them to develop the confidence to speak up, stand in front of others, present their work and say: “This is my idea.” These skills are valuable in relationships with peers, at school, during exams and presentations, as well as in their future professional lives.

The course concludes with a certificate of completion.

Tutors

Michalina Krzemianowska

Film and theater actress, puppeteer.

Graduate of the Theatre Academy in Białystok (Department of Puppet – Theatre Arts). She also studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Acting Department). Co-creator of original puppet shows, including “Przywiązane” (“Attached”) and “Wielkie rozczarowanie i smutek” (“Great Disappointment and Sadness”), presented at numerous festivals in Poland and abroad. She played the lead role in Bahama Films’ film “Wszystko o moich bliskich” (“All About My Loved Ones”).

Karina Maria Giemza

Puppet actress, voice therapist specializing in the rehabilitation of voice disorders, and pianist.

She combines stage, educational and therapeutic experience, developing her own methods of working with voice, body and imagination. She has collaborated with UNICEF and the National Institute of Music and Dance, led workshops as part of the Summer in the City programme, worked with cultural centres, and conducted music education classes for children based on the Edwin E. Gordon Music Learning Theory. She is the founder of the Teatr Uczuć Tymczasowych Foundation.

Each of these experiences has become an important part of her professional journey and an inspiration for creating her own educational programmes. In her work, she combines theatre, music, movement, voice therapy and creative practices, drawing from each field what best supports human development.

Her approach is holistic, based on the belief that a relaxed body allows the voice to sound freely, healthily and authentically. Through movement exercises, play, imagination work and conscious breathing, she helps participants reduce tension and stress, develop awareness of their own voices, and regain their natural intuition in communication and self-expression.

She creates a safe and supportive atmosphere in which everyone can discover their potential, build confidence and experience the joy of creative self-expression.

Anna Wolszczak

Theatre director, educator and dramaturg of animated objects, specializing in performances for children, young people, and intergenerational audiences

My artistic practice combines theatre, movement, visual arts, and participatory methods. I am fascinated by the relationship between the body, objects and space — I search for stories hidden in everyday materials and for awakenings in what appears to be inanimate.

I create inclusive, mindful experiences that spark dialogue, play and critical thinking. I believe that through art, I can fight for children’s rights and agency. I treat the stage as a space of intimacy, resistance, and tender revolution — where magical realism meets social engagement.

I am currently a literary specialist at the Warszawska Opera Kameralna. As an artist, I collaborate with theaters and institutions in Poland and abroad, including in Germany, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and the United Kingdom. I am also active in documentary filmmaking and continue to develop through artistic residencies. My projects have been presented at festivals such as Visioni di futuro (Italy), NORMA (Czech Republic), and Millennium Docs Against Gravity (Poland).

At present, I am working on a performance for preschool-aged children titled Living Paper, exploring nonverbal ways of communicating with children in theater, with research support from the Canon Foundation. I am also developing a documentary film about the relationships of children at Polish military camps. I co-direct the film Playing War with Piotr Pluta, and it is produced by Munk Studio.
